Nigeria Cricket Federation
Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) is the official governing body for cricket in Nigeria. It is based in Lagos and oversees all cricket activities in the country. The NCF represents Nigeria in the International Cricket Council (ICC) and has been an associate member since 2002. It is also a member of the African Cricket Association.
Cricket was introduced to Nigeria during British colonial times. Nigeria’s first international match was in 1904, against the Gold Coast (now Ghana). The Nigeria Cricket Association for expatriates (1932) and for indigenous players (1933) later merged. In 1951, a joint board was formed, and in 1957 the two groups merged to become the Nigeria Cricket Association (NCA), which was renamed the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) in 2006.
In the 1960s, Nigeria helped form the West Africa Cricket Federation, which later evolved into the West Africa Cricket Conference in 1976.
