Scorzoneroides autumnalis, commonly called autumn hawkbit or fall dandelion, is a perennial plant native to Eurasia and introduced in North America. It resembles a dandelion but has a branched stem with several flower heads. The plant grows up to about 35 cm tall and carries several bright yellow heads. Leaves are basal and linear-oblong. It flowers from June to October and produces achenes (seed heads). It prefers damp grasslands and meadows. The fly Tephritis leontodontis can attack its flower heads. It is abundant in Ireland and Great Britain. The Latin name Leontodon autumnalis means "lion's tooth," like the dandelion.
