Neptis frobenia

Neptis frobenia is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family that lives on Mauritius. It belongs to the frobenia group of Neptis, a small group found on the Mascarene and Comoro Islands. They do not seem to occur on Madagascar, but are closely related to Neptis saclava from that island.

What to look for:
- They have yellow markings on the upper side of the wings.
- The forewing discal band is interrupted twice (in cells 1b and 4); discal spot 4 is absent or small and joined to spot 3.
- In males, the underside of the forewing along the hindmargin is grey with a strong pearly gloss up to vein 2.

Larval food:
- Caterpillars feed on Acalypha species and Erythrospermum mauritiana.
