Trpín (Svitavy District)
Trpín is a small municipality and village in Svitavy District, Pardubice Region, Czech Republic. It covers about 12.5 square kilometers and sits around 598 meters above sea level. The population is about 450 residents (as of 2025). The municipality consists of two parts. The name comes from the personal name Trpa, meaning “Trpa’s court.”
Trpín lies about 18 kilometers south of Svitavy and 44 kilometers north of Brno, in the Upper Svratka Highlands. The highest nearby point is the hill Panský vrch at about 700 meters. The first written mention of Trpín is from 1349; the nearby village Hlásnice was first mentioned in 1437. There are no railways or major roads through the village.
The main landmark is the Church of Saint Wenceslaus, consecrated in 1689 and completed in 1720, with a wooden bell tower beside it.
