Mike Neighbors
Mike Neighbors is an American basketball coach who, as of 2025, is an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA. He was born on March 29, 1969, in Greenwood, Arkansas, and played high school basketball at Greenwood. He studied at Westark Community College (associate degree, 1989) and the University of Arkansas (bachelor’s degree, 1993).
Neighbors began his coaching career at the high school level, leading Bentonville High School (1994–1998) and Cabot High School (1998–1999). He then worked at the college level as Arkansas’ director of operations (1999–2001) and as an assistant coach at Tulsa (2001–2005), Colorado (2005–2006), Arkansas (2006–2007), Xavier (2007–2010), and Washington (2010–2013).
In 2013, he became the head coach at Washington, where he led the team to a Final Four appearance in 2016 and earned a top-25 ranking in 2014–15. In 2017, Neighbors returned to his alma mater, Arkansas, as head coach and stayed there until resigning on March 11, 2025. During his tenure, Arkansas had a strong SEC presence, made the 2019 WNIT, and achieved notable conference success, including a 2020 season with a 10–6 SEC record. He signed an extension through the 2027–28 season before stepping down in 2025.
On March 26, 2025, Neighbors was announced as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Sparks under head coach Lynne Roberts.
