Saoula is a suburb of Algiers, the capital of northern Algeria. It is one of five municipalities in the Bir Mourad Raïs District of Algiers Province. The name Saoula likely comes from two Arabic words meaning “first open place.” About 50,000 people lived there in 2010. The area sits around 200 meters above sea level and is located near 36.70°N, 3.02°E. The time zone is UTC+1.

Sports: Saoula is home to WB Saoula, a football team that plays in the fourth tier of Algerian football. They play at the Stadium of Saoula, which was renovated in 2012 to add more seats and artificial turf.

Saoula serves as a gateway to larger parts of Algiers, especially Birkhadem.

History: The commune was created in 1843 and was initially part of Birkhadem. It became an independent municipality on December 2, 1963. In 1997, it joined the city of Tipaza, but Saoula later became independent again.
