Marcos Painter is a former professional footballer who played mainly as a left back and is now a coach with Birmingham City. He was born on 17 August 1986 in Solihull, England, and grew up in the Chelmsley Wood area, attending Archbishop Grimshaw School. Painter came through the Birmingham City Academy and began his senior career with Birmingham City in 2005. He made his Premier League debut in December 2005 and later moved to Swansea City, first on loan in 2006 and then permanently in 2007, where he established himself as the left-back and helped the club win promotion. A knee injury in 2008 limited his playing time.

In 2010 he joined Brighton & Hove Albion, where he stayed until 2013, including a brief loan to AFC Bournemouth in 2013. He then played for Portsmouth in the 2013–2014 season. He also represented the Republic of Ireland at under-21 level during his career.

After retiring, Painter returned to Birmingham City as an academy coach, working with the under-16s for nine years. In October 2024 he was appointed assistant coach for the Birmingham City Under-21s.
