Spodoptera cosmioides
Spodoptera cosmioides is an armyworm moth in the Noctuidae family. It lives in Central and South America, from Panama and Trinidad south to Argentina. It was first described by Walker in 1858 as Prodenia cosmioides and later placed in the genus Spodoptera. Some sources spell the name as cosmiodes, but cosmioides is the correct spelling.
The wingspan is about 38–42 mm (1.5–1.7 inches). There are no host plants listed for this species in the HOSTS database, but related Spodoptera moths feed on many herbaceous plants and can be pests.
The type locality is Pará, Brazil. Records of the species include Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad, and Venezuela.
