McGee House (Aztec, New Mexico)
McGee House is a historic home at 501 Sabena Street in Aztec, New Mexico. Construction began in 1917 and the house was occupied in 1923, built by James McGee as an owner-built residence. The two-story house sits on a poured concrete first floor with a wood-frame upper story and borrows design ideas from the nearby T. A. Pierce Mansion of 1907. It features a cubic shape, a hipped roof with a dormer, and two wall textures—concrete below and dark shingles above. The planned full front porch was never completed because a balustrade was repurposed for the central staircase. The McGee House, together with a barn and the landscaped area of the original homestead, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Cecil McGee, James’s son, lived there for many years.
