Magnum P.I. (2018 TV series) season 2
Magnum P.I. Season 2 (2019–20) on CBS continues the adventures of former Navy SEAL Thomas Magnum, who works as a private investigator with his partner Juliet Higgins and a tight-knit group of friends. The season stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Amy Hill, and Tim Kang. It consists of 20 episodes, airing from September 27, 2019, to May 8, 2020. The show moved from Monday to Friday nights at 9 PM ET for this season.
The season was split into two parts: the first 14 episodes aired through January 31, 2020, and the remaining six episodes began on April 10, 2020, after Hawaii Five-0’s finale. A major two‑part crossover with Hawaii Five-0 was planned and executed during Season 2, with Five-0 regulars appearing in Magnum P.I. episodes and Magnum regulars appearing in Five-0 episodes. The crossover’s high point, “Desperate Measures” (the season’s 12th episode), drew 8.76 million viewers.
Production details and guests: executive producers Peter M. Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim returned to steer the season. Filming began with a Hawaiian blessing on July 8, 2019, and the season introduced a new filming location at the La Mariana Restaurant. The season featured various guest appearances, including athletes and musicians; Train performed their song “Mai Tais” during the November 15 episode, and Betsy Phillips (Knighton’s wife) appeared in the finale. The season also included recurring crossovers with Hawaii Five-0, linking the two shows more closely.
Season 3 followed, premiering on December 4, 2020.
