Luetkenotyphlus insulanus
Luetkenotyphlus insulanus, also known as the insular caecilian, is a species of legless amphibian in the family Siphonopidae. It is found only on the Ilhabela archipelago in Brazil. It lives underground in subtropical forest soil. Its conservation status is Data Deficient on the IUCN Red List (IUCN 3.1). Scientific classification: Kingdom Animalia; Phylum Chordata; Class Amphibia; Order Gymnophiona; Family Siphonopidae; Genus Luetkenotyphlus; Species insulanus. Binomial name Luetkenotyphlus insulanus (R. von Ihering, 1911). It has also been called Siphonops insulanus in the past.
