Background and notable events
The ODI series was part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The tour schedule was confirmed on 1 February 2022, with ODIs in Chittagong and T20Is in Dhaka. Afghanistan arrived in Sylhet on 13 February for a training camp, but eight players and three staff members tested positive for COVID-19, leading to a 48-hour isolation before retesting. All party members returned negative tests on 16 February, and a second round of testing was requested after concerns about false positives.

Match details and highlights
In the first ODI, Afghanistan were bowled out for 215 and Bangladesh chased 219/6, aided by a 174-run seventh-wicket partnership between Afif Hossain and Mehidy Hasan—the highest seventh-wicket partnership for Bangladesh in ODIs and the second-highest ever for that wicket in ODI cricket. In the second ODI, Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim added 202 for the third wicket, and Bangladesh won by 88 runs to take a 2–0 lead in the series. In the third ODI, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored an unbeaten century as Afghanistan won by seven wickets.

T20I notes
Prior to the first T20I, Nurul Hasan was added to Bangladesh’s squad after Mushfiqur Rahim suffered an injury. Afghanistan also had Qais Ahmad and Mohammad Saleem as traveling reserves for the ODI matches.
