Master of the Legend of Saint Barbara
Master of the Legend of Saint Barbara was an Early Netherlandish painter active in Brussels from about 1470 to 1500. He is known only by this name, taken from a painting of Saint Barbara. Some scholars think he may be the same person as Aert van den Bossche, since in 1505 a painter signed the Bruges Guild of St. Luke as "Harnoult van den Boske." Art historian Max J. Friedländer attributed several works to this master, though not all have been reassigned to Aert van den Bossche. The painter’s true identity remains unknown.
