1940 United States presidential election in Washington (state)
Washington held its vote on November 5, 1940, as part of the nationwide presidential election. Eight electors from Washington were chosen for the Electoral College. Incumbent Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt from New York, with running mate Henry A. Wallace, won the state with 58.22% of the vote (462,145). Republican Wendell Willkie from New York, with running mate Charles L. McNary, received 40.58% (322,123). Roosevelt won all eight of Washington’s electoral votes and was re-elected as President.
