London county football team
London's men's Gaelic football team represents the capital in Gaelic games and is run by London GAA. They play their home matches at McGovern Park, South Ruislip, and are managed by Michael Maher. The team competes in three major competitions: the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Connacht Senior Football Championship, and the National Football League. London has not yet won an All-Ireland or a National League title.
Key moments and notes:
- 1977: recorded their only Connacht SFC win before 2013, beating Leitrim.
- 2011: won their first All-Ireland SFC qualifier in 34 years, beating Fermanagh in Ruislip.
- 2013: reached the Connacht SFC final for the first time since 1977, after wins over Sligo and Leitrim; lost the final to Mayo. Also entered the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.
- 2020–21: season disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic; London did not compete in 2020 and 2021.
- 2022: topped National Football League Division 4 after three opening wins.
- 2024: played in the Tailteann Cup, beating Offaly; competed in the Connacht Championship (lost to Galway). Also played in the pre-season FBD Cup, beating Mayo and losing to Roscommon.
- 2025: competed in the Tailteann Cup but did not win any games.
- 2019: London-born Michael Maher became the first native to manage the London senior team.
- 2021: 125th anniversary celebrated with special jersey releases.
