The UK Albums Chart ranks the weekly best-selling albums in the United Kingdom. Before 2004 it was based only on physical sales. This list covers albums that reached the Top 10 in 1973, including titles that peaked in 1972 or 1974 but were still in the Top 10 in 1973. The entry date is the first week an album appears in the Top 10 (week ending), published six days after the chart is announced. The first new number-one album of 1973 was Slade’s Slayed?. In 1973, twenty different albums hit number one. The most number-one albums were by David Bowie, Elton John, Slade, and Various Artists, each with two number-one entries.
