Butler Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania
Butler Township is a rural area in Adams County, Pennsylvania, located just east of Arendtsville. It was settled in 1754 and incorporated in 1840. The township covers about 24.1 square miles, almost all land (24.0 sq mi) with a tiny amount of water (about 0.12 sq mi). Its population was 2,552 at the 2020 census and is estimated to be 2,597 in 2023, giving a population density of roughly 107 people per square mile. Butler Township includes the census-designated place of Table Rock and a small portion of Pennsylvania State Game Lands Number 249. The area lies in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and uses area code 717.
