2013 Armed Forces Bowl

The 2013 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl was played on December 30, 2013, at Amon G. Carter Stadium on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. It was the 11th Armed Forces Bowl, featuring the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (Conference USA) against the Navy Midshipmen (Independent). Navy won the game 24–6.

Both teams came in with 8–4 records. Navy’s head coach was Ken Niumatalolo, and Middle Tennessee’s head coach was Rick Stockstill. The game kicked off at 10:45 a.m. (CST) and aired on ESPN. Attendance was 39,246, and the payout was $600,000. The referee was Mark Kluczynski from the MAC. Announcers were Beth Mowins (play-by-play), Joey Galloway (analyst), and Paul Carcaterra (sidelines).

This was Navy’s first Armed Forces Bowl, making them the last service academy to play in the event (Air Force had appeared several times, Army in 2010). It was Middle Tennessee’s first Armed Forces Bowl. The game was part of the 2013–14 bowl season concluding the 2013 FBS football season. Navy’s invitation came after a 6–4 start, and Middle Tennessee was invited after finishing 8–4. The bowl was sponsored by Bell Helicopter.
