Leontica is a village in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. It used to be its own municipality and was first mentioned in 1204 as Levontega. The municipality included the nearby village of Comprovasco. Its population grew from 315 in 1602 to 441 in 1808 and 473 in 1850, then declined to 295 in 1900 and rose to 408 in 1950, with 267 people in 2000. In 2004, Leontica merged with Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Lottigna, Marolta, Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco to form the larger municipality of Acquarossa. In winter, Leontica offers about 30 kilometers of ski runs up to the Bassa di Nara pass, at 2,123 meters.
