Hay Island is an unpopulated island off the south-west coast of Tasmania, Australia, near where the Port Davey mouth meets the Southern Ocean. It covers about 1.85 hectares and rises to 78 metres above sea level. The island is part of the Swainson Islands Group and lies within Southwest National Park and the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

Hay Island is included in the Port Davey Islands Important Bird Area, identified for its breeding seabirds. On the island, short-tailed shearwaters breed in about 7,500 pairs, and fairy prions breed in roughly 1 to 2,000 pairs.
