Landing Zone Grant
Landing Zone Grant was a U.S. Army base in Tay Ninh Province, Vietnam, built in 1969 by the 1st Cavalry Division during Operation Sheridan Sabre. It sat on a major enemy infiltration route near Nui Ba Den and saw several attacks in early 1969.
- February 23: A VC force from the 1st Battalion, 95th Regiment attacked the base. The assault was repulsed; 16 VC were killed and 2 captured.
- March 8: A PAVN assault continued through the night. The U.S. 2/12th Cavalry lost 13 men; PAVN losses were 157 killed and 2 captured, with 23 weapons captured.
- March 11: A PAVN/VC force attacked again with mortars and rockets, breaking contact by 03:30. The 2/12th Cavalry suffered 15 killed; PAVN losses were 62 killed and 2 captured.
The base was later abandoned and turned over to farmland.
