The men’s trap event at the 2012 Olympic Games was held on August 5–6 at the Royal Artillery Barracks. Thirty-four shooters from 27 nations competed. Giovanni Cernogoraz of Croatia won the gold medal, Croatia’s first medal in men’s trap. Massimo Fabbrizi of Italy took silver, continuing Italy’s recent success in the event, and Fehaid Al-Deehani of Kuwait earned bronze.

The competition used two rounds: a qualifying round of 125 targets (five sets of 25) and a final of 25 targets. In the final, only one shot could be taken at each target. The total score from all 150 targets determined the medals, with ties broken by shoot-offs. Michael Diamond had set an Olympic record with a perfect 125 in qualifying. In the final, Cernogoraz and Fabbrizi both scored 146, tying the Olympic record for the combined final; Cernogoraz won the gold after a shoot-off, Fabbrizi took silver, and Al-Deehani earned bronze.
