L (Learning) is a 2011 Greek comedy-drama film and the feature debut of director Babis Makridis. Written by Makridis with Efthymis Filippou and based on a story by Yorgos Giokas, the movie stars Aris Servetalis as a 40-year-old man whose life changes in a single day.

The man, who sometimes lives in his car, tries to spend his free time with his family. On a given day he meets his wife and two children in car parks at a set time, and his job involves finding and delivering the finest honey to a 50-year-old client. A new driver arrives, the man loses his job, and his world starts to unravel as he realizes no one trusts him anymore.

Filming took place in March and April 2011 in Attica, Greece, with additional shooting at the end of July 2011. The movie was shot in 35mm on an Arriflex BL, runs 87 minutes, and is in color with Dolby SRD sound. It is in Greek with English subtitles and shot in 1.85:1. The film was edited on Avid.

L had its Greek theatrical release in February 2012 through Feelgood Entertainment. It marked Makridis’s international premiere when it became the first Greek film selected to compete at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, and it also competed in the Tiger Awards at the Rotterdam Film Festival. The film was nominated for Best Script at the Hellenic Film Academy Awards. A six-minute excerpt was shown in the Work in Progress section at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in July 2011.

Production companies are Beben Films, Warp Films, and Faliro House Productions. The film’s music is by Coti K, and it features cinematography by Thimios Bakatakis and editing by Yannis Chalkiadakis. The cast includes Aris Servetalis.
