Ceiba is a barrio (neighborhood) in the Vega Baja municipality of Puerto Rico. It covers about 2.74 square miles (7.1 km2) in total, with 2.72 square miles (7.0 km2) of land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 km2) of water. The elevation is about 10 feet (3 meters) above sea level. In 2010, Ceiba had 4,685 residents, giving a population density of about 1,722 people per square mile (665 per km2). The coordinates are roughly 18.45°N, 66.36°W, and the area is in the Atlantic Time Zone (UTC−4). Ceiba has historical ties to Spain and became part of the United States after the 1898 Treaty of Paris; the 1899 census counted 469 people living in Ceiba barrio.
