Yuri Melikov
Gioúri Melikov (Greek: Γιούρι Μελίκοβ, Russian: Юрий Меликов) was born on 28 November 1997 in Paralimni, Cyprus. He is a Cypriot singer and songwriter who makes pop-folk, pop and dance music. He began his career in 2014 as a contestant on The Voice of Greece.
In 2015 he tried to represent Cyprus in Eurovision with the song Victorious in the Eurovision Song Project, but he didn’t reach the final. He released his first singles on 3 December 2014: "Merry Christmas" and its Greek version "Hristougenniatikes Agapes." On 23 February 2015 he released a second single, "You Got Me (Aha Aha)," with a music video.
Melikov was born to an Armenian father and a Russian-Cypriot mother and grew up in Paralimni. He studied music at a conservatory for six years, and his father taught him violin and acted as his manager. He has said he would like to pursue his singing career outside Greece, possibly in the United States or the United Kingdom.
In 2014 he said he was dating a girl named Valentina and dedicated a song to her during The Voice semi-finals.
