Knej is a small settlement in central Slovenia, located west of Rašica in the Municipality of Velike Lašče. It is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.

Knej covers 0.74 square kilometers, sits at an elevation of 493.8 meters, and had a population of 22 in 2002. The coordinates are 45°50′47.77″N 14°35′54.74″E, and the postal code is 1314.

The name Knej is pronounced knei. It was first attested in 1389 as zu dem Kne, and later as in der Kneya (1463) and Kney (1484). The name is thought to come from Slavic words referring to woods around a field or hunting woods, based on a root meaning stump.
