USS Arrowhead (AD-35)

USS Arrowhead (AD-35) was a planned Shenandoah-class destroyer tender of the United States Navy during World War II. Destroyer tenders provide maintenance and support to destroyers, especially when at sea or in forward areas.

Arrowhead was laid down on December 1, 1944, at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Washington. Because the war ended before she could be completed, the Navy cancelled construction on August 11, 1945, and she was never finished.

Key details of the planned ship:
- Class and role: Shenandoah-class destroyer tender
- Displacement: about 11,755 tons (light) and 16,900 tons (full)
- Dimensions: 492 feet long, 69.5 feet beam, 28 feet draft
- Propulsion: Westinghouse geared turbine with boilers, one propeller; top speed about 18.4 knots
- Crew: about 63 officers and 986 enlisted
- Armament (planned): 2 x 5-inch/38 dual-purpose guns, 4 x twin 40 mm AA mounts, and 22 x 20 mm AA mounts

Arrowhead would have been a sister ship to other Shenandoah-class tenders, such as USS Tidewater (AD-31).

Fate: The ship was cancelled in 1945 and never completed.
