Kevin Barrett (born 26 February 1966) is a former New Zealand rugby union player. He was a forward who mainly played as a flanker and a lock. He is 194 cm tall and weighed about 106 kg during his career. Barrett grew up on a family farm in Pungarehu and attended Francis Douglas Memorial College in New Plymouth, leaving school in fifth form to work on the farm.

Barrett played for Taranaki from 1986 to 1999, appearing in 167 games. He earned the nickname "Smiley" for his faint smile during tough on-field battles. He joined the Hurricanes as injury cover in 1997, making four appearances, including a flank position in their semi‑final loss to the Brumbies. In 1998 he played as a lock and appeared in ten Super Rugby games for the Hurricanes.

He finished his New Zealand rugby career in 1999 and moved to County Meath, Ireland, in 2000 to manage a farm. He also played for Buccaneers RFC in the 2000–01 season. Barrett once joked in a match programme that he hoped to "breed some All Blacks."

Barrett and his wife Robyn raised five sons and three daughters. Four of their sons have played professional rugby, including Beauden Barrett, Jordie Barrett, Kane Barrett, and Scott Barrett. Beauden, Jordie, and Scott went on to become All Blacks, while Kane retired from rugby due to concussion.
