Rafael Curiel Gallegos (30 December 1883 – 1955) was a Mexican army officer and later a government official. Born in Ciudad Valles, he studied at Escuela Nacional Preparatoria and the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He opposed Porfirio Díaz and was jailed several times. During the Mexican Revolution, he fought in Coahuila, Durango, and Chihuahua, helped take Torreón, and rose to the rank of colonel while serving under General Nicolás Flores. In 1919 he was a deputy in the Congress of San Luis Potosí and then Governor of San Luis Potosí from 1920 to 1921. He retired in 1938 due to poor health and worked in farming in Zacatecas. A school in Ciudad Valles is named after him: Escuela Secundaria Rafael Curiel Gallegos.
