The Carlos Watson Show
The Carlos Watson Show is an American talk and interview series hosted by journalist and entrepreneur Carlos Watson. It began in 2020 and features long conversations with political leaders, business innovators, authors, actors, musicians, athletes, and other notable people. Each episode runs about 15 to 30 minutes and is conducted mainly over Zoom, with some shoots in studios in California and New York. The show weaves in archive footage to create a deeper profile of its guest and usually ends with a quick “Rapid Fire” questions segment.
Production and release
The series was produced by OZY Media. It first streamed on YouTube, from August 2, 2020, to February 18, 2021, with roughly 119 episodes. A podcast version is also available, featuring longer, unedited conversations. After a period of controversy surrounding Watson and a producer, the show paused briefly and then returned for a third season on Amazon Prime, from May 22, 2021, to July 21, 2021, with 43 episodes.
Guests and scope
The show features guests from politics, business, entertainment, sports, and culture. Notable interviewees included Vice President Kamala Harris, former U.S. Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice and Mike Pompeo, and other public figures. Business guests included Bill Gates, Mark Cuban, Reid Hoffman, Brian Chesky, and Adena Friedman. Actors and entertainers such as Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Matt Damon, and H.E.R. also appeared, as did athletes and artists from various fields.
Special moments
The program aired two live specials: one after the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot, and another to mark President Joe Biden’s inauguration. The show’s format emphasized in-depth conversations about guests’ journeys and their views on current events, often using archival material to enrich the profile.
Notes
The series was promoted with brand partnerships and promotional efforts, and it faced scrutiny over marketing claims linked to OZY Media. In addition to the main episodes, the show was supported by sponsors and advertising partnerships.
