Hengul and Haital

Hengul and Haital are traditional pigments from Assam used in medieval painting. Many old manuscripts show pictures painted with these colors. Hengul is vermilion (a bright red), while Haital is yellow arsenic. Today these pigments are still used in crafts like mask-making, though Haital is highly toxic.
