Jinson Charls
Jinson Anto Charls is an Australian politician from the Country Liberal Party. He was elected to the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly for Sanderson in August 2024, defeating Labor minister Kate Worden. Charls was born in Kerala, India, and moved to Australia in 2011, settling in Darwin in 2015. He joined the Finocchiaro ministry as a government minister on 9 September 2024.
In May 2024, during a debate on racism, the Northern Territory Anti-Discrimination Commissioner criticised Charls for remarks that linked race with Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. MLA Justine Davis questioned his suitability for the multicultural affairs role after he compared the opposition to the Nazi party and quoted Joseph Goebbels. Charls began his speech by saying he does not support racism in any form.
