A4 motorway (Serbia)
The A4 motorway in Serbia is a 105.434-kilometer highway that runs from the Niš area to the Bulgarian border at Gradina near Dimitrovgrad. It starts at the Trupale interchange near Niš, where it connects with the A1, and travels east to the Gradina border crossing. The road serves Niš, Bela Palanka, Pirot and Dimitrovgrad.
The A4 is part of European route E80 and Pan-European corridor X, and it is planned to connect with Bulgaria’s motorway network toward Sofia. It is maintained by JP Putevi Srbije. The route follows the historic Via Militaris. Construction of the modern motorway began after the 1990s and was completed in stages between 2016 and 2018, with several sections opening during that period.
