Ichthyomys is a genus of semiaquatic rodents in the Neotropics, belonging to the family Cricetidae. The best-known species is Ichthyomys stolzmanni, also called Stolzmann's crab-eating rat, which is the type species of the genus. The genus Ichthyomys was named by Thomas in 1893. Species include: Ichthyomys stolzmanni, Ichthyomys hydrobates, Ichthyomys orientalis, Ichthyomys pinei, Ichthyomys pittieri, and Ichthyomys tweedii. Members tend to be nocturnal and live along fast-flowing streams, feeding on freshwater invertebrates such as crabs.
