The first-ever Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) Draft took place on September 18, 2023, at CBC's Toronto headquarters in Toronto, Ontario. It was broadcast on CBC Gem and the CBC Sports App. A total of 90 players were drafted over 15 rounds from 286 eligible players across 17 countries. Minnesota Golden Gophers forward Taylor Heise was the first overall pick, selected by Minnesota.

The draft used a snaking order: the first-round order was set by a computer randomizer during a video conference with all six team general managers, and in the second round the order reversed, with the pattern continuing each round. No trades were allowed. The final draft order was published by round.
