Dominion 6.22
Dominion 6.22 was a New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) pay-per-view held on June 22, 2013, in Osaka at the Bodymaker Colosseum, with about 7,240 attendees. The show featured ten matches (including one dark match), four of which were for championships, and was the fifth Dominion event.
The event built on ongoing storylines, with wrestlers portraying heroes, villains, or other characters as tensions built toward matches. One highlight was a special three-way tag team title match in which the IWGP Tag Team Champions Tencozy (Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima) faced the GHC Tag Team Champions Takashi Iizuka and Toru Yano and the NWA World Tag Team Champions K.E.S. (Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Lance Archer). Only the IWGP Tag Team Championship was on the line.
As part of NJPW’s revived partnership with the National Wrestling Alliance, Rob Conway defended the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in a NJPW ring for the second time.
In other action, Tetsuya Naito returned to the ring for the first time since October 2012 and defeated Yujiro Takahashi, who had injured his knee in storyline.
In the semi-main, Prince Devitt defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to earn his first shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, then held by Kazuchika Okada, who defeated Togi Makabe in the main event to retain the title. After his win, Okada accepted Devitt’s challenge on the condition that Devitt first defend the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Okada’s manager, Gedo.
