Humboldt 30
The Humboldt 30, also known as the Humboldt Bay 30, is an American racing sailboat designed by Gary Mull and Jim P. Donovan. Only six were built by Humboldt Bay Yachts in the United States from 1982 to 1984, and production ended after that. It is a small racing keelboat made mostly of fiberglass with a closed-cell PVC foam core.
The boat features a fractional sloop rig, a transom-hung rudder, and a fixed fin keel. It displaces about 5,050 pounds and carries 2,222 pounds of ballast. The draft is 5.5 feet. The hull length is 30 feet, with a waterline length of about 26.7 feet and a beam of 10.5 feet.
Power comes from a 10 hp Yanmar 1GM diesel engine. For racing, the Humboldt 30 has a mainsail area of about 286 square feet and a jib/genoa of about 216 square feet, for a total sail area near 503 square feet. The boat carries a PHRF handicap around 102 (range 98–106), and its hull speed is about 6.9 knots.
