846 Lipperta is a slow-rotating asteroid in the Themis family of the main asteroid belt. It was discovered on 26 November 1916 by K. Gyllenberg at Bergedorf. The asteroid orbits the Sun at about 3.13 AU with a mild eccentricity (about 0.18) and a very small tilt (about 0.26 degrees). Its orbital period is roughly 5.53 years. The shape and size indicate a mean radius of about 26 kilometers, giving a diameter of around 52 kilometers. It has a dark surface with an albedo of about 0.0506 and an absolute magnitude of 10.26.

Rotation and potential activity
- 846 Lipperta spins unusually slowly, with a rotation period reported at about 1641 hours (roughly 68.4 days). This value is based on lightcurve studies but could be off by about 30% due to incomplete data.
- There have been unconfirmed reports of comet-like activity.

Overview
- Type: C-type asteroid in the Themis family (outer main belt).
- Mass is estimated at about 1.5 × 10^17 kg, based on its size.

In short, 846 Lipperta is a large, dark, slow-rotating asteroid in the outer main belt, part of the Themis family, with a rotation period that is still not precisely known.
