Hawthorne Municipal Airport, also known as Jack Northrop Field, is a public airport in Hawthorne, California. It is owned and operated by the City of Hawthorne. The field sits about 66 feet (20 meters) above sea level and has one concrete runway (7/25) that is 4,884 feet long. The airport covers 80 acres and is surrounded by residential areas, near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Codes: IATA HHR, ICAO KHHR, FAA LID HHRS.

History and name: The field is named after Jack Northrop of the Northrop Aircraft Corporation, a maker of notable planes. During World War II, the site was used by the U.S. Army Air Forces for aircraft modification and by the Air Transport Command to move new aircraft to units.

Current use and future plans: In November 2025, Archer Aviation signed a long-term lease to use the airport as its urban air mobility base for testing and for passenger operations in the Los Angeles area, including the 2028 Olympics, under a master ground lease worth about $126 million. The airport has connections to SpaceX and The Boring Company, and Tesla’s Design Studio is located there. The only fixed-base operator is Jet Center Los Angeles (a unit of Advanced Air); Star Helicopters is also on site. Crenshaw Station on the LA Metro C Line is within walking distance, and several Metro buses serve Crenshaw Boulevard. Because the airport sits close to LAX airspace, careful air traffic coordination is essential.
