Jason Polin
Jason Polin (born June 17, 1999) is an American professional ice hockey forward who plays for the Colorado Eagles in the American Hockey League (AHL) and is under contract to the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL. He is a right winger, shoots right, and is 6 feet tall and 198 pounds. He went undrafted.
Polin spent three seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the USHL while attending Washington High School. In 2018–19 he scored 50 points (30 goals, 20 assists), and he finished with 55 goals and 38 assists in 163 games for the RoughRiders.
He then played college hockey at Western Michigan. He started with 7 goals and 2 assists in 31 games (2019–20), followed by 7 goals and 7 assists in 23 games (2020–21, shortened by COVID). In 2021–22 he had 16 goals and 10 assists in 39 games. He was named captain for 2022–23. In the GLI championship on December 29, 2022, he had his fifth hat trick of the season and was named tournament MVP; he became the first player to score six goals in a GLI tournament, and his five hat tricks are second in WMU history. His senior year produced 47 points (30 goals, 17 assists), 152 shots, and strong totals across power plays, game-winners, and plus-minus (+26). His 30 goals tied for the NCAA lead and set the NCHC single-season goal record. He also led the NCAA in hat tricks with five, earning NCHC Player of the Year, NCHC Forward of the Year, and AHCA West Second Team All-American; he was a top-ten Hobey Baker finalist. He finished his college career with 60 goals and 36 assists in 132 games.
Polin signed with the Colorado Avalanche on March 29, 2023 for the 2023–24 season and joined the Colorado Eagles on a professional tryout. After an early-season injury, he was recalled to the NHL and made his debut on January 8, 2024 against the Boston Bruins. He scored his first NHL goal (and point) on January 16, 2024 against the Ottawa Senators in a 7–4 win. He finished the season with 7 NHL games and 4 goals, 10 points in 42 regular-season AHL games. As a restricted free agent, he re-signed with Colorado on a one-year, two-way contract on July 6, 2024. The 2024–25 season saw injuries but he had 11 goals and 19 points in 39 AHL games and two more NHL games (0 points) before finishing the season in the playoffs with the Eagles. On June 21, 2025, Polin re-signed another one-year, two-way contract with the Avalanche.
