Governor of Kaliningrad Oblast

The Governor is the head of the region’s government, acting like the prime minister of Kaliningrad Oblast. The governor is elected for a four-year term and can serve up to two consecutive terms. The official residence is in Kaliningrad.

The current governor is Alexey Besprozvannykh, who began serving in 2024.

The position was created in 1991 as Chairman of the Executive Committee of Kaliningrad Oblast. Kaliningrad Oblast itself was formed in 1946. From 1946 until 1990, the region was led mainly by the Kaliningrad Regional Committee of the Communist Party.

Elections have been held recently: the latest was on September 11, 2022, and the previous one on September 10, 2017.
