Itasca Township is one of 13 townships in Sherman County, Kansas. It covers 33.73 square miles of land and has no towns within it. The population was 321 at the 2000 census. The township sits near the center of Sherman County, just south of Goodland, the county seat. Part of Goodland lies within the township’s original boundaries, but the city itself is not part of the township. There are no communities in Itasca Township. The south fork of Sappa Creek has its intermittent source here. Interstate 70 and U.S. Route 24 run east–west through the township, while K-27 forms its western border. A small airport is in the northern part, and a railroad line runs east–west just north of the interstate. The township is governed by a three-member board: a trustee, a treasurer, and a clerk; the trustee acts as the executive. Elevation is 3,661 feet. The ZIP code is 67735.
