Gavere
Gavere is a municipality in East Flanders, Belgium, in the Flemish Region. It covers about 31 square kilometers and includes the towns of Asper, Baaigem, Dikkelvenne, Gavere, Semmerzake and Vurste. The population was about 12,769 in 2018 and around 13,007 in 2021. The mayor is Denis Dierickx of the Open VLD-VOG party, and the local government is a coalition of Open VLD-VOG and Vooruit. A notable event is the Cyclo-cross Gavere, a cycling race held near Grenier Castle that is part of the Superprestige and the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup. The Air Traffic Control center of the Belgian Air Component was based in Semmerzake. Gavere is located at about 50.933°N, 3.667°E. For more information, visit gavere.be.
