Matei Cazacu, born July 11, 1946, in Sinaia, is a Romanian-born French author, essayist, medieval historian, and human rights activist. He is a member of the Romanian section of the League for the Defense of Human Rights and of the Association for the Defense of Historical Monuments in Romania. He won the Prix Thiers from the Académie Française for Dracula (Paris: Editions Tallandier).
