Funastrum
Funastrum is a group of flowering plants in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. The name comes from Latin words meaning “rope” and “star,” referring to its twining, rope-like stems. These plants are commonly called twinevines. The genus sits within the plant kingdom and belongs to the order Gentianales, in the family Apocynaceae and the tribe Asclepiadeae. Synonyms include Ceramanthus (Kunze) Malme (an illegitimate name) and Philibertella Vail. As of early 2023, Plants of the World Online recognizes several species within Funastrum.
