Hymenelia parva is a small crusty lichen that grows on rocks. It belongs to the fungal family Hymeneliaceae.

Discoveries and naming
- It was described as a new species in 2018 by lichenologists Alan Fryday and John W. McCarthy.
- The type specimen was found at Saint Mary’s Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, on soft reddish-brown shale along the seashore. This area is part of the South Avalon–Burin oceanic barrens.
- The species name parva comes from Latin, meaning “small,” referring to its small fruiting bodies (apothecia) and spores.
- Hymenelia parva is currently only known from its type locality in Canada.
