Curtis Senior High School
Curtis Senior High School is a public high school in University Place, Washington. It is the only high school in the University Place School District, which serves most of University Place and parts of Fircrest and Tacoma. The school is named after former UPSD superintendent George R. Curtis.
The school opened in 1957 as a combined junior-senior high school near 40th Street and Grandview. In 1962 a dedicated high school building was built nearby, and 10th–12th grades moved there, while 8th–9th became part of the junior high. The original site later became the junior high, and a new building was built in 2009.
Curtis offers Advanced Placement and core classes, and Running Start with Tacoma Community College, allowing juniors and seniors to take college courses for credit while in high school.
