Festgesang an die Künstler
Felix Mendelssohn wrote the cantata Festgesang an die Künstler, Op. 68, in 1846 for a German-Flemish song competition, and it was published later that year. Some sources confuse it with an earlier 1840 piece for the Gutenberg Festival in Leipzig, called Festgesang (Gutenberg cantata). The work uses Friedrich Schiller's verses and is written for a men's choir with 13 brass instruments.
