Ernest Yaw Kumi (5 December 1984 – 7 July 2025) was a Ghanaian politician who served as the Member of Parliament for Akwatia from 7 January 2025 until his death on 7 July 2025. He was a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and won the December 2024 election, defeating the incumbent Henry Yiadom Boakye of the NDC with about 19,269 votes to 17,206.

Kumi was born in Akyem Wenchi, Ghana, in 1984. He studied at the Regional Maritime University, earning a BSc in Ports and Shipping Administration in 2009; he later earned an MBA in Corporate Governance at the University of Professional Studies in 2014; a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Mountcrest University College in 2019; and a Master of Science in Defence and International Politics from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College in 2022.

As MP, he served on the Lands and Natural Resources Committee and the House Committee. He briefly faced a High Court injunction in January 2025 barring him from being sworn in; he was found in contempt in February 2025 and a bench warrant was issued. The Supreme Court overturned the ruling in June 2025, restoring his status as MP and preventing further sentencing.

Kumi died after a brief illness on 7 July 2025, at the age of 40. His seat was later filled by Bernard Baidoo.
