Charles Sweatman
Charles Herbert Sweatman (29 July 1873 – 11 June 1915) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League. Born in Bendigo and originally playing for Ascot Vale, he was a player who lined up as a half back and sometimes as a half forward. Sweatman played 30 games and kicked 3 goals for Carlton from 1897 to 1899.
He married Elizabeth Margaret Critney Kinley in 1899. In old records his name was sometimes listed incorrectly as "Tom Sweetman" or simply "Warde," which were clerical errors.
His playing career continued with several club moves: he was cleared from Carlton to Essendon Town on 1 May 1900; on 22 May 1905 he moved from Essendon Town to the Boulder City Football Club in Western Australia’s Goldfields Football League; in June 1908 he was cleared from Boulder City to the Brighton Football Club. He was apparently named in the Brighton team but did not play in the match against Northcote on 27 June 1908.
Sweatman died suddenly of heart failure at Echuca District Hospital on 11 June 1915.
